Last week I mentioned that Monique from Dandelion Wood had sent me some Websters Chalk Paint Powder and L’Essentiel Beeswax Polish to try out. It’s taken me a little while, but I finally got around to trying it out on this lamp table makeover.
The idea behind Websters Chalk Paint Powder is simple – you can turn any matt or flat finish paint you have into chalk paint, with all its amazing qualities. Perfect, right? For this lamp table I used some paint I had sitting on the shelf in the garage for who knows how long, and I don’t even have a brand or name for it. Lets call it Midnight Blue. (As I was painting, that song just kept running through my head. Go see what I’m talking about here. Go on
Mixing the powder and paint was easy – 2 tablespoons of powder and 1 of water, then a cup of paint. Honestly you will have done more complicated mixtures in high school science! The paint when on beautifully and had all the characteristics of chalk paint – it adhered perfectly, doesn’t require primer or extensive sanding, it dried quickly and distressed well. There were also loads of youtube videos on mixing and using the powder so I could check if I wasn’t sure! I think this product is perfect for when you want to paint something small and don’t want to commit to purchasing a large quantity of paint. I used a sample pot that came from Bunnings and have some left over after painting this table (I gave it three coats as I wanted a really solid cover).
Monique very kindly passed on some Websters Chalk Paint Powder and L’Essentiel Beeswax Polish for one lucky person to try out too! To be in the running, you must leave a comment below answering the following question –
If you were to win the Websters & L’Essentiel pack, what would you use it for?
I will choose one winner from the entrants and send them the two goodies shown below – a satchel of Websters Chalk Paint Powder and tin of L’Essentiel Beeswax Polish!
The giveaway is open to Australian residents only and will close at 5pm AEST on Monday June 30. You must follow Paisley Vintage via some form of social media (if you don’t already, choose one or all of the buttons on the top right of the screen). The winner will be announced here on the blog, on my Facebook page and Twitter account, and will be contacted by email (provided you leave a valid email address). The winner will have 5 days to respond, otherwise it will be redrawn. The winner will be required to provide a mailing address so I can send you your prize.
