Children’s Stools – A Makeover

Hello There!!

A few weeks ago on Facebook I shared a pair of children’s stools my lovely friend MJ had found for me, and last week they finally got a makeover!

They were in an ‘interesting’ state when I started… their previous owner had placed a round cushion on the seat and then stapled a huge circle of what I’ll describe as somewhat kindly as curtain fabric to the top. And when I say huge I mean the stools looked like that had little brains they were so puffy! See what I mean?

These really do prove that if you’re prepared to do a little work you can come up with something lovely. My friend MJ realised that there was a wooden seat under all that fabric, (and that I would love them ) and once the staples were removed they were a perfect weekend project to paint. They were worn and weathered which came up great with a little sanding…

I decided on dipped feet, tapping off the bottom while painting the rest in Annie Sloan Pure White, and once it was fully dry, re-taping so I could stain the feet. I love the look and wanted something with contrast… I used the same Feast & Watson Black Japan stain that I used for this project too.

I’m loving how these turned out! And as always, very appreciative of a friend seeing some unwanted and unloved furniture and thinking of me!!

Thanks for stopping by…
